This is my first post on the new iteration of marknutting.com. It’s really just an explanation of why I am now shifting my career focus.
I’ve always been one of those people that is fascinated with many different careers. This is partly reflected in the diversity of experiences that I’ve had throughout my life. Now, I went to college for exercise science and have been a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and club manager for nearly forty-five years, but I’ve also been an actor, dancer, stuntman, superhero (I did personal appearances as various superheroes for Marvel Entertainment Group), improv performer and teacher, a writer, podcaster, business coach/consultant, mastermind facilitator, conference presenter and webinar producer.
My last fitness venture was Jiva Fitness, a boutique fitness studio in Easton, PA that my wife, Heather, and I founded in 2015. Heather died in 2022 after an almost two year battle with lung cancer. Jiva was our endeavor and it hasn’t been the same since her death. I’ve more or less been in limbo and I find myself needing a change in both environment and in career. November 9th, 2024 will be my last day as owner of Jiva Fitness.
So, which of my many interests have pulled me in their direction?
With more than fifteen years of intense study in business and business best practices, this is the area that I want to focus on. I’ve already been writing and lecturing about business for over a decade. I’ve also been a business coach and mastermind facilitator. I love helping others succeed in business! To date, though, that has been in conjunction with the fitness career. Now, I’m shifting out of the day-to-day management of a brick and mortar fitness business to focus on helping others build their businesses and careers. Hence, my new site.
Is this all TMI? I’m sorry if you think so. I’m being very candid with you in the hopes that you get a sense of who I am and why I’m here. I am very excited for this career shift and to help those of you that need some guidance or assistance to reach your professional goals.
I look forward to meeting and working with you. If you have any questions, hit me up on the contact page.
Best wishes, Mark
